Tradition & culture Culture for all your senses. Those not wishing to miss out on culture during their holiday, are in the right place on the Salzburger Sonnenterrasse. In addition to living local traditions there is also an ambitious array of culture, which leaves nothing to desire: modern art, classical and modern music, theatre, caberet, readings and symposia span the wide and varied programme.

Harvest Festival on the Salzburger Sonnenterrasse
With over 2,000 events surrounding traditional customs and handicrafts the Province of Salzburg celebrates Harvest Festival fro the end of August to the end of October in over 80 resorts.
In the farming culture work and festivities have always gone hand in hand. And where there's lots of work, as at harvest time, there's also numerous occasions for celebration. |

 |
| Now, you shouldn't imagine that here in the Province of Salzburg we celebrate huge festivals all the time. No it's more the smaller occasions, the religious and worldly gestures of thanks, the colourful markets and fairs, the local delicacy weeks in the inns - and of course the advantageous offers that make up the special charm of the Salzburg Harvest Festival. "How much there is to see and do! Accompanied by the pealing of bells, the decorated cows and sheep head down from the alpine meadows back to the village. At the village fairs the Salzburg people proudly wear their local costume. And the culinary specialities: if the temperature is somewhat cooler, they can be a bit more hearty: juicy roasts, spicy alpine cheeses, sweet doughnuts, and to warm you up a home-made schnapps. view events |
