Your divine holidays on the Salzburg Sun Terrace
Our sunny villages
The Salzburg Sun Terrace did not get its name without reason. Due to the special location of our villages on a plateau in the Salzach Valley they all get more than their fair share of warming sunrays. Even on December 21st, the winter solstice, we have a whopping 7 hours of sunshine on average. However, our location offers further advantages. Although we are embedded in the middle of the beautiful panorama of the Alps, you can reach destinations such as Salzburg or the Hohe Tauern National Park quickly and easily. In winter, we are the gateway to Ski amadé - the largest skiing area in all of Europe. All of that and much more awaits you during holidays on the Salzburg Sun Terrace!
St. Veit im Pongau
The village of St. Veit, which has been existing since the 11th century, is idyllically situated on our Sun Terrace. It emerged from a church settlement, and still the parish church of St. Vitus with the market square forms the heart of the village. St. Veit, through the ages, has retained its original charm and invites you to enjoy its traditional atmosphere. You can experience living traditions, theatre performances and concerts in one of the most beautiful market villages in Salzburg.
Schwarzach im Pongau
Initially a part of St. Veit, Schwarzach only became an independent municipality at the beginning of the 20th century. Since then it has developed magnificently. Today not only the railway station with its excellent connection to the international rail network is found here, but also the first railway museum in the province of Salzburg is housed in Schwarzach. Among the most famous buildings in the local area is the Cardinal Schwarzenberg Clinic. A little way removed from the village centre, Schernberg Castle is situated where the Archbishop’s Brewery was formerly housed. Today it is owned by the order of the Sisters of Charity.
