The rich history of St. Veit, Schwarzach, and Goldegg comes to life at numerous authentic heritage sites. From the lovingly preserved Wallner Farmhouse and the historic Goldegg Castle with its captivating exhibitions to the Reading Tower and the traditional Blacksmith’s Workshop, visitors gain fascinating insights into the cultural heritage of Salzburg’s Sonnenterrasse. Here, local traditions, history, and living craftsmanship come together to create a truly memorable experience.
Salzburg’s Sonnenterrasse is a place where tradition is alive and breathing. The Wallner farmhouse, built in 1738 in Schwarzach, was carefully dismantled in 1988 and faithfully reconstructed at its present location in St. Veit. Today, it serves as a museum as well as a meeting place and venue for events. Together with the traditional grain storage building (Troadkasten), the wood-fired oven, the mill, and the school garden, it forms a remarkable and highly worthwhile ensemble.

Built in the 14th century, Goldegg Castle is home not only to historical treasures but also tells the compelling story of the region’s past. The museum, currently undergoing renovation, focuses on the themes of “Flight – Persecution – Expulsion”, presented through impressive historical artefacts and modern media. Particular attention is given to the expulsion of Protestants in 1731/32 and the “Storming of Goldegg” in July 1944, along with the far-reaching consequences of these events.

The forge, dating back to the 14th century, is still partly equipped with original tools. Three water wheels power, just as they did in the past, an ancient “tail hammer”, a transmission shaft for various machines, and a water-powered grinding stone. In the show forge, Toni Huber demonstrates his traditional craftsmanship and skills.
