Numerous truly inspiring hiking paths take you through the mountain and the valley, accompanied by breath-taking natural surroundings and plenty of sunshine. This circular hike starts in Viellehen, taking in the summits of the Gamskögerl and the Hochegg. During this two to four hour hike you get to experience a dreamy, panoramic view to the mountains in the backdrop.
Herb fans adore the path between Hochegg and Gamskögerl. On this sustained tour from one Alpine pasture to another, you discover so many rare herbs that are used for medicinal purposes in particular.
Take a deep breath and enjoy – a moderate ascent proceeds from the Kinderalm car park in St. Veit on a forest trail up to the summit. Cool woodlands and numerous relaxing oases accompany this tour above the clouds. Take a short half hour detour and you will even get to the magnificent Pronebenalm with no trouble at all.
The path to the Schneeberg starts at Hubertus Chapel St. Veit. The path proceeds across woodlands and meadows until you reach the Schneeberg in St. Veit.
Anyone who hasn’t had enough of the wonderful views can continue to the Hochegg or Gamskögerl summits.
The Heukareck is the local mountain in St. Veit and Schwarzach and provides a wonderful view to Salzachtal. The challenging hike to Heukareck starts from Brandstatt car park (St. Veit shaded side).
This leisurely hike along the Thomas Bernhard Trail starts at St. Veit market square, passing Seelacken Museum to the ‘Schöne Aussicht’, where the views to the Salzburg mountains take your breath away. The return for this tour, which takes around one and an hours, proceeds through the ‘Lärchenwald’ (larch forest). This relaxing oasis on the route provides a chance to rest and pause for thought, perfect for enjoying the wonderful natural surroundings to the full.

Of the 25 villages included in the hike, there are the three Sonnenterrasse towns of St. Veit, Schwarzach and Goldegg.
