Sun Terrace winter holidays in SalzburgerLand
Winter fun with sun guarantee
Even in winter you can enjoy many hours of sunshine on the Salzburg sun terrace. When the snowflakes are not dancing from the sky, the clouds open and let warm rays through. Skiing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking and tobogganing in the best weather in one of the most beautiful holiday regions in the country: Your winter holiday in the Salzburger Land can come! What awaits you on the snow-covered sun terrace and how you can get a little closer to the sky is something we would love to tell you.
Ski Resort Salzburg Sun Terrace
Small but great: the first stop for your cosy, family skiing holiday in the Pongau is the lifts on Salzburg’s sun terrace. Away from the hustle and bustle of a huge ski area, there are several slopes for beginners and families with children. A total of over ten kilometres of excellently groomed slopes, four lifts and a baby lift await you. Here you can take your first steps on the boards that mean the world to many.
Other ski resorts in the Salzburger Land
Did you know that the Salzburg sun terrace is the gateway to one of the largest winter sports areas in Europe? Ski amadé inspires with almost unbelievable 760 km of ski slopes and 270 lifts in the whole Salzburger Land and the bordering Styria. Visit the ultra-modern St. Johann-Alpendorf ski area with its numerous snow and fun parks, venture a detour to the Hochkönig with three highly varied winter sports resorts at the peak of emotions or wave over the World Cup course in Flachau, where Hermann Meier once made his first turns. There are no limits to your imagination!
Winter and snowshoe hiking
Winter on the Salzburg sun terrace, but that also means silence, cosiness and nature enjoyment. The perfect combination of snow and sun invites you to enjoy winter hiking in the Salzburger Land. More than 100 km of excellently prepared and cleared paths connect the three villages of the holiday region. The sun terrace bus takes you to the starting point of your favourite hike in no time at all. Let yourself be enchanted by the magnificent panorama between mountain and valley and round off your excursion with a stop in the warm parlour. A hot cup of tea is waiting. As a winter hiking alternative we recommend a snowshoe hike. Equipped with snowshoes, you reach even more remote spots and are rewarded with fantastic views. Snowshoes can be hired from the tourist office. Here you can also arrange guided snowshoe hikes for your winter holiday in the Salzburger Land.
Cross-country skiing on perfectly groomed cross-country trails
Cross-country skiing on perfectly groomed cross-country trails Hardly any other sport burns as many calories per hour as cross-country skiing. With the right training plan you will feel much easier. Cross-country skiing in the Pongau also clears your mind and helps you to see things more clearly, gain new perspectives and free yourself from everyday stress. On the Salzburger Sonnenterrasse you can expect 47 km of cross-country trails, of which 30 km are specially prepared for skating. We recommend our round trail to beginners and connoisseurs. It is only 1 km long and also illuminated – ideal for a slightly different view of the holiday region. With a cross-country skiing course, you’ll find your way around these two thin boards in no time – by the way, also suitable for experienced, sporty cross-country skiers with professional ambitions.
Further winter activities on the sun terrace
Further winter activities on the sun terrace But that’s by no means all your winter holiday in Salzburg Land has in store for you! The Salzburger sun terrace is known for its active variety, of course also in the cold season. For example, we are happy to take you – of course only in exceptional cases – to the ice. The illuminated ice rink in Schwarzach and the frozen Goldegger Lake with Goldegg Castle as an impressive backdrop are definitely worth a visit. There are also several curling rinks in the region. Similarly cosy: horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snow-covered sun terrace landscape. The Asten lift offers fun tobogganing tours for young and old. The track is illuminated in the evening, toboggans can be rented on site. The fitness centre in St. Veit and the thermal baths in nearby Gasteinertal are sporty and relaxed.
